My Time to Shine

A cheery woman in a white lab coat, complete with a deep red thin tie to pull it in at her waist, walks up to the confused looking girl, and puts on a biiiiig smile on, hoping to be reassuring, knowing new trainers are expected today. Maple flips to a page on her clipboard before looking up and talking.

MAPLE
" Welcome! Are you here to see Oak? "

Sammie's a little reassured by the warm smile and cheery attitude; the white lab coat? Not so much.

"Yeah, I was supposed to come pick up my Pokedex and choose my starter Pokemon today."

Maple smiles, seeing the girls nerves calm a little through her face, before she starts walking towards two big doors up ahead.

MAPLE
Well, follow me right this way then ... "

The two walk into a big room in the back, where they see Oak frantic talking into multiple phones on his desk.

OAK
" No comment! No comment! "

Maple walks in and taps Oak's shoulder, as he turns around, and unplugs the phones. He looks at Samantha standing before him and puts on a smile. He nods to Maple, who leaves the room, as Oak extends his hand.

OAK
" Hello ... I'm Professor Oak ... you must be here to get your Dex and first Pokémon? "

Sammie quickly sticks her hand out, not wanting to waste any of this busy man's time. She nods her head and speaks at the same time, using both ways of communication to agree to what Oak had just said.

"Oh, yes sir! I'm Sammi..err, Samantha."

She decided to play it professional with the professor.

Oak shook back and smiled, before jumping right into the reason she is here. His back turned for a moment until he turned back with a tray of Pokéballs! He turned around once more, grabbing a PokéDex for the girl with him, and once more spoke.

OAK
" Well, I have what most call starter Pokémon here ... Pokémon bred generally for new trainers to have! But I also have 4 other Pokémon here ... would you like to see them? "

Oak nods his head and opens the Pokéballs ... revealing the choices she has to pick from!

Oak stepped back and let Samantha look at the many creatures in front of her!

The Pokemon all stood before her, and she looked at each of them. Whichever Pokemon she picked would be her starter; she couldn't make any mistakes right now. This was crucial. She pulled out her Pokedex and used it for the first time, pointing it at the Pokemon that she had her hopes set on.

Squirtle. This Tiny Turtle Pokémon draws its long neck into its shell to launch incredible water attacks with amazing range and accuracy. The blasts can be quite powerful.

Sammie turned to Professor Oak, smiling.

"I think I know which one I want."

Oak nodded and looked for the Pokéball labeled Squirtle. Once returned he peeled the label off and handed the Pokéball to Samantha. The rest scattered off outside to play in the grass in the backyard.

OAK
" A wise choice, indeed! "

Samantha looked down at the Pokeball in her hands with a wide smile on her face.

"Is that it?"

Oak returned the huge smile before speaking.

OAK
" No ... it's just the begining! "

The two shared one last smile, as Smanatha turned around and left with her first Pokémon and her journey ahead of her!
